The preloader can be disabled by...

Rerunning the install and unchecking it.

Editing the registry and removing the entry to load the preloader. (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run where the data contains NNTSPRELD.EXE)

The registry entry is enabled/disabled as part of the install since that is the only point where we can ensure that the process has rights to make this type of configuration change.
